This is how to do that as a supervisor at DNB

You will be part of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and will work in a Joint Supervisory Team (JST), a team of supervisors from both DNB and the European Central Bank (ECB). The JST’s task is to assess the risks the bank faces and check that the bank is equipped to manage those risks properly. Within the team, you are a member of the JST’s structural risk cluster with a focus on Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and Market Risk. 

Your main responsibilities will include the following: 

• You will specifically focus on risk management and controls in the areas of Liquidity Risk, IRRBB and Market Risk.
• You will participate in-depth risk assessments, recommend risk mitigation actions and monitor the bank’s follow up.
• You will design strategies to influence the bank to reduce its risks and strengthen weaknesses.
• You will have regular meetings with the bank’s (senior) management to discuss, among other things, the bank’s adherence to its risk framework and to communicate the outcome of your assessments and recommendations.
• You will share your findings with your colleagues from the JST and/or within DNB through (written) analyses or presentations to allow banks’ risk profiles to be assessed consistently and facilitate decision-making about necessary supervisory measures to be taken.

As a supervisor structural risks you will be based at DNB in Amsterdam. DNB is part of the European Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), through which the ECB is ultimately responsible for supervision of all euro area banks. The ECB directly supervises the largest European banks, the Significant Institutions (SIs). You will work in the European Banks Supervision Division (EUBA), which is engaged in supervising Significant Institutions. Your team is tasked with the supervision of one of these banks in the Netherlands. The JST consists of around 20 professionals, of which two third is based in Amsterdam, with various nationalities. Working for the SSM means that you will have to regularly travel abroad (e.g. to the ECB in Frankfurt) for training, on-site inspections and other activities.

At DNB we work in a hybrid manner. Our office in Amsterdam is our home base, the place where we meet, where we share knowledge and work (together). The starting point is that you spend at least half of your weekly working hours at the office or at a supervised institution. At the same time, there is also plenty of room to choose a workplace and -time where we can do our work best and where we can add as much value as possible. And of course we ensure that you can also work excellently at home with a laptop, telephone and a good home workplace design.

What else are we looking for?

• You hold a Master’s degree in a relevant area, such as Economics, Finance, Business administration.
• You are a professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience primarily in the field of Liquidity Risk, IRRBB and/or Market Risk.
• You are able to understand complex issues and identify and summarize the results of your assessment in formal writing in English.
• You are a knowledgeable sparring partner for your various stakeholders. You communicate clearly.
• You can establish and maintain contacts with relevant stakeholders and are at ease in a multicultural environment.
• You have experience in setting priorities and working under time pressure.
• You are able to work with datasets using various supervisory tools.
• You have an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of the Dutch language, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. If you have no command of Dutch yet, you are willing to learn the language.

You will initially be working on a one-year contract, with the prospect of an extension, provided you have performed well and our organization has not undergone any changes that affect your job.

The other excellent terms and conditions of employment for this position are:

• A salary of at least € 4,300.-- and a maximum of € 7,000.-- gross per month, based on a 36-hour working week. Among other things, the final salary will depend on your expertise and experience.
• A 13th monthly salary, an 8% holiday allowance calculated on your 13-months’ salary and a freely disposable personal budget of 5.9% of your 12-months’ salary.
• Your pension entitlements will accrue under a career-average scheme including provisional indexation, with a 6.83% employee contribution.
• Full reimbursement of your public transport costs for commuting or reimbursement of your costs with your own transport, at € 0.22 per km.
• An internet allowance of € 50 net per month.
• Plenty of opportunities for professional and personal development through education and training.
• A healthy work-life balance. In this position, it is possible to divide your working week into 4 9-hour days.
